Dani Bergson (b.1973) is an artist from London who explores the human figure, emotion and relationship between the visible and the felt.
She grew up in Pinner and completed a Bachelor of Textile Arts at the University of Central England in 1996. Her early training in textiles continues to inform her painterly approach through an emphasis on surface, layering, and material sensitivity. Between 1997 and 2000, Bergson worked as a textile designer for Monkwell Fabrics and Osborne & Little.
Since 2000, she has maintained an independent practice as a freelance artist, working with numerous publishers, including Demontfort Fine Art , Washington Green and Rosenstiels.
Bergson’s fine art practice centres on figurative painting, exploring the tension between classical structure and contemporary expression.
She works primarily in oils creating compositions that balance technical discipline with expressive freedom. Bergson’s practice is driven by a fascination with the human form and its emotional presence. Her paintings investigate gesture, atmosphere, and the tension between realism and abstraction, often allowing figures to emerge and dissolve within layered, painterly surfaces. Through this approach, she seeks to capture both physical presence and psychological depth. She continues to learn and explore new ideas from her London studio.
